On this walking tour through Tuhaitara Coastal Park at Woodend Beach, Joseph Hullen (Ngai Tuahuriri, Ngai Tahu) uncovers the rich history and significance of Tutae Patu Lagoon.
Once an important Ngai Tuahuriri mahinga kai (food gathering site), the lagoon is still of great significance to Ngai Tuahuriri and Ngai Tahu.
Joseph was born and raised at Tuahiwi and Kaiapoi. He has spent a lifetime gathering traditional kai and listening to stories about his hapū Ngāi Tūāhuriri. He is a hunter gatherer, a fisherman, an explorer, a kaitiaki, a storyteller. And always he is Ngāi Tahu.
Dare to be provoked and inspired by this year’s Shifting Points of View presented in association with WORD Christchurch. With big, bold ideas and good old-fashioned storytelling across eight sessions, it may even change your point of view.
