Kate McIntyre’s work exhibits a strong, distinctive, graphic style and is inspired by natural geometry; the patterns in the world around us.
This series of work draws on geological processes, specifically aeolian and alluvial landscapes, and aims to capture the temporal nature of patterns etched by water or wind; a ceramic still from an earth in motion.
Kate has been working in ceramics since completing a Bachelor of Design in 2009, followed by an internship with Peter Collis. In 2015 Kate was awarded an Artist in Residence at the European Ceramic Work Centre in the Netherlands, an International Centre of Excellence. She has exhibited throughout New Zealand and Australia, and has been a finalist in the Portage Ceramic Awards.
